Sharon Scully (Ballew)

Recieved from Saundra (SAM) Lamb-Walker (11/2022)

Hi Everyone,

I got a phone call from Sharon Scully’s husband, and Sharon passed away a couple weeks ago (November, 2022).. She had a fall and broke her femur, and lots of complications set in. Sharon lived with her husband, Ron Ballew, in Orlando.

Sharon had not been able to come to our reunions and she was not able to travel due to health in many years. She called and we talked and she was very fun to talk to and she was very funny! She liked to send funny cards and was doing some writing.

Sharon was in Real Estate for most of her time working in the last decades. She enjoyed talking about the Debate team. Being on the team with Hank and the other members and she particularly was praising Mr. Coon, as their Coach and also how he was so good at taking care of them. They traveled out of town, and spent the night sometimes. She said at one debate she was asked a question about a rocket. She asked if she could draw on the board. She drew a rocket.. turns out her father was an engineer in the Air Force Reserve, and he was in the Reserves at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He had taught her all about rockets. Good for him! But mostly we talked about Mr. Coon and how much we learned from him!!! (Why we dedicated our annual to him!).. Vocabulary was huge.! Lots more. And how lucky we were with our school.

We remember her playing “Annie” in “Annie Get Your Gun!” She referred to briefly about the times she did the American Band Stand show with Rob Braun. She wasn’t complaining, but it was very long hours and a lot of work.

She loved her dogs and then her kitties.
